An analysis of control in the school system in America shows it occurs on two levels. First by the state government, and second by the federal government via the education department, either way, it's the government who makes the decisions.
Local schools are controlled in a three-tier system in some places. As a whole, the channels of communication between the state level board of education, the school superintendent and the department of education are all filled with bureaucracy at its best.
To provide a short analysis of control in the school system, it could be said that the education system itself, which is centralized to the department of education, is one of the causes of the degrading quality of the American public school system. The other cause is the intentional dumbing down of our children by the elite through the government control of schools.
To go through this analysis of control in the school system thoroughly, it could be held that most of the public schools in the Western part of America have been principally facing problems in coping with the unified decisions of the department which is located nowhere known to the students.
A multitude of changes are brought into the classes and the academic structure, sometimes serving as an immense barrier for students’ enthusiasm to study. Additionally, schools in larger districts do not have control as they are mostly influenced by mayoral decisions made to serve the community as a whole.
Worse still, such changes are not interacted properly with the students or their parents, thanks to the structure that was originally designed by a group of elite who did not care about conflict of interests among the several parties involved.
Another viewpoint of this analysis of control in the school system could be to look at the challenges met by these schools from the outside as well as the inside.
On the inside, the problems are mostly regarding the students’ attitude towards the system. From the outside, on the other hand, emphasis is given towards equality and fairness in access to education and in the allocation of financial resources; two main principles that determine the successful running of a school.
Financial resources do not only reflect the budget provided by the government to the schools, but also on how many funds a school system manages to pull together on its own. This is, however, contradictory to the first philosophy of equality and fairness in access to education.
There are many other schools who oppose this control from the upper levels of bureaucracy, particularly because the schools seek to provide equal opportunities to all students regardless of their endowment, learning ability, aspirations, attitudes, and family backgrounds.
However, overall, due to the intensive government influence at all levels in the school system, the elite can influence the outcome of the educational practices to a great degree. In fact, the results of the American school system can be directly attributed to the brainwashing practices the elite instill.
To provide a brief outlook on the analysis of control in the school systems in the Eastern states, it is fair to say the bureaucracy herein is worse than of the Western schools.
Petty and dysfunctional school bureaucracies are mostly seen in large urban schools in New York and New Jersey where they follow a standard plain schedule set by the department of education. This department did not formerly study the needs of the community or students, something evidently seen through the core subjects that do not require the students to think out of the box and graduate, creating a system similar to batches of factory assembly lines.
In fact, one or two philosophical authors were quoted comparing this situation to creating and de-humanizing robotic workers to power the assembly lines of the industrial age, something that was done in other countries in the past.
Students from various schools share the same “dumbed-down” academic structure, something which the apathetic teachers have no choice but to follow in spite of its holes and hitches.
